Local Communication

Since its inception, TOYOTA MOTOR KYUSHU,INC. has been involved in various social action programs based on our Corporate Philosophy: "Be a good corporate citizen, one upon whom society may rely. Meet environmental concerns by observing both the letter and the spirit of laws and regulations."

Purpose

Both as a company and as individuals, we aim to win the trust of the local community and promote social action programs for the realization of a prosperous society and its continuous development.

Implementation System

We have formed the "Social Action Promotion Group," a unit charged with the full-time promotion of social action programs. It acts as the head office over these programs, providing support for employee volunteer activities, as well as developing various programs in cooperation with people from the local area.

Distribution of Volunteer Information
The head office regularly distributes the information it collects on volunteering in the local community and provides support for activities initiated by employees in their role as individual citizens.

Volunteer Point System
Our company awards points to employees for participating in volunteer activities, in proportion to the number of hours they participate in these activities. They can exchange the points they accumulate for money, which is then donated to welfare institutions, etc.

Social Action Programs in the Local Community

In April 2010, we entered into an agreement with the cities of Miyawaka and Munakata regarding our cooperation and collaboration toward revitalizing and contributing to the local community. We have taken part in various activities alongside the residents of these cities in an effort to strengthen our ties.

Activities

As a member of the local community, our company actively promotes activities in areas such as education, welfare, environment, and local production for local consumption.

Education

We run a "Manufacturing Class" for elementary school students from the local area near the company. Employees who volunteer to teach the class tell the students about the fun of science and the importance of making things in this original program.
In addition, members of our guidance staff go out to elementary schools in Miyawaka and Munakata and conduct "School Visits" to help students learn more about car munufacturing before they go on a tour of the factory.
In our role as a car manufacturer, we also conduct hands-on "Traffic Safety Programs" during company functions and events at commercial facilities and are engaged in public awareness campaigns.

Welfare

We call light volunteer activities that can be easily participated in on a regular basis "Little Volunteer Activities," which include collecting pull tabs and PET bottle caps. With the money we get in exchange for the tabs and caps, we contribute wheelchairs to welfare institutions in the area and vaccines to children in developing countries to protect them from infectious diseases.
In collaboration with vocational aid centers, we also manufacture mementos out of leftover pieces of leather seats to support the self-reliance and social participation of the people who use the centers.

Environment

In accordance with the Regional Partnership Agreement, we participate as volunteers in environmental beautification activities in the region surrounding the company, with a focus on events held in Miyawaka and Munakata.
We are also involved in the national forest "Satsuki Matsubara Adoption Program*," with volunteers from the company actively engaged in cleanup work.
In addition to enhancing awareness about the environment, these activities stimulate communication among employees and between employees and people in the local community.

*The Adoption Program is one part of a general plan being promoted by Munakata city, which has citizens and local governments adopt fixed sections of public space where they work on environmental beautification activities throughout the year.

Local Production for Local Consumption

We promote local production for local consumption in order to build relationships of trust, strengthening our food-based ties with the local community through the active consumption of local produce.
We have been increasing the amount of locally produced food we use in the company cafeteria, as well implementing a "Waste Reduction Project" through collaboration between Toyota Transportation and Toyota dealerships in Fukuoka prefecture. After car transporters have delivered the finished cars they were carrying, they are loaded with imperfect vegetables for the return trip, which are taken to event sites and sold at a low price. In this way, we contribute to the effective use of resources and the revitalization of the local area.
